IHT - UN Officials Face Suit for Massacre

Paris, Thursday, December 2, 1999

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Survivors of the 1995 takeover of the Bosnian town of Srebrenica said Wednesday that they would take legal action against former and current United Nations officials for failing to prevent the massacre of thousands of Muslim men by Bosnian Serbian forces.

An association of mainly female relatives of the massacre victims said it decided on the move after the release of a UN report in which the UN blamed itself and key governments for failing to use force and for appeasing Bosnian Serb leaders.
