Russia urges UN to discuss situation in Kosovo

MOSCOW, December 2 (Itar-Tass) - Russia calls on the United Nations to discuss the complex situation in Kosovo with the participation of head of the U.N. mission Bernard Kouchner.

Well-informed sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday that Russia expresses deep concern about the situation in Kosovo and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov sent a message to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and G-8 foreign ministers on this issue.

The source said in his message "Igor Ivanov paid attention to the complex situation in Kosovo and stressed the need to implement U.N. Security Council resolution No 1244".

In the message the Russian minister also urged Annan to discuss the situation in Kosovo as soon as possible with the participation of head of the U.N. mission Bernard Kouchner.
