Opinion - Nato aims for Kosovo secession from Yugoslavia

MOSCOW , December 3 (Itar-Tass) - The NATO bloc is pursuing a policy aimed at Kosovo's secession from Yugoslavia. This opinion was expressed on Friday by chief of the Russian Defence Ministry's main agency for international military cooperation, Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov.

He said NATO countries are doing their utmost to emphasise Kosovo's independence from Yugoslavia. Ivashov said this was stressed, particularly, by US President Bill Clinton's latest visit to Kosovo. What is more, the United States is setting up its diplomatic mission in Kosovo without coordination with Belgrade.

Ivashov also said that four airlines now make flights to Kosovo territory without Belgrade's consent. He said border guard and custom services in Kosovo are operating inefficiently, and added that weapons are streaming to Kosovo across borders.
